Te Ara Pekapeka Bridge, formerly known as the Peacocke Waikato River Bridge, is a significant infrastructure project in Hamilton, New Zealand. Completed in August 2024, the bridge spans 215 meters across the Waikato River, connecting Hamilton East with the emerging Peacocke suburb. This project is a key component of Hamilton's Peacocke development, aiming to create a sustainable and well-connected community.
The bridge is complemented by extensive roading and landscaping work, including new arterial roads, shared pathways for pedestrians and cyclists, and 160,000 native plants and trees to enhance the natural environment. These improvements support better transport links, improve safety, and promote active travel options, ensuring a well-integrated and visually appealing connection for the growing Peacocke community.
